Gulfstream Celebrates Grand Opening Of $3 Million Completions & Service Hangar In Brunswick, Georgia
New 24,000-Square-Foot Facility to Support Gulfstream Shares Program
Brunswick, GA, Sept. 19, 2000 -- Gulfstream Aerospace Corporation, a wholly owned subsidiary of General Dynamics (NYSE: GD), today held the grand opening of a $3 million state-of-the-art completions and service hangar at its Brunswick facility. Brunswick's 215 employees and 150 distinguished guests attended the celebration.
The 24,000-square-foot hangar increases space by a third, allowing Gulfstream to more efficiently outfit and service its corporate jets. The Brunswick expansion also includes the upgrade and lease of a 20,000 square foot storage and maintenance building. These new facilities compliment the company's overall strategy to increase its existing interior completions, product support and service capabilities to accommodate its customers.
"Our investment in Brunswick provides additional resources for completing Gulfstream IV-SP and Gulfstream V aircraft in support our Gulfstream Shares program with Executive Jet," said Bill Boisture, Gulfstream president and chief operating officer. "Moreover, this expansion will allow this dedicated work force to put more focus on service activities for our customers."
Gulfstream's Brunswick Completion and Service facility has been in operation since 1992. In addition to outfitting and servicing Gulfstream aircraft for the Gulfstream Shares fractional ownership program, the facility supports the servicing of Gulfstream aircraft for other customers. The first Gulfstream V has already been delivered to Brunswick to begin the completions process.
Brunswick is expected to complete seven Gulfstream IV-SP aircraft this year for Executive Jet International (EJI) and to deliver the first Gulfstream V to the fractional ownership program in December. The new expansion will allow an additional three Gulfstream IV-SPs or two Gulfstream Vs to be worked on simultaneously and gives Gulfstream the ability to complete up to ten aircraft per year at Brunswick.
Approaching its fifth year, Gulfstream Shares is a joint marketing arrangement between Gulfstream and EJI, the industry leader in fractional ownership of business aircraft. To date, EJI orders and options for the program have reached 81 aircraft valued at over $2 billion, including a long-term maintenance agreement with Executive Jet's fleet of Gulfstreams. Delivery of optioned aircraft is expected to begin in 2004 and to continue through 2007.
