GULFSTREAM FLEET ON DISPLAY AT ASIAN AEROSPACE 2002
The Gulfstream Fleet is Capable of Meeting All of Asia’s Business Travel Needs
Asian Aerospace, Singapore, February 26, 2002 - Gulfstream Aerospace Corporation’s recently expanded fleet, comprising the Gulfstream 100, the Gulfstream 200, the Gulfstream IV-SP and the Gulfstream V, will be on display at Asian Aerospace 2002, being held in Singapore February 26 through March 3, 2002.
"The Gulfstream fleet has a world-renowned reputation for performance and reliability, which makes them the aircraft of choice for business leaders and governments worldwide," said Joe Walker, senior vice president, worldwide sales, Gulfstream Aerospace. "Most notably the GV has achieved a dispatch reliability rate in excess of 99% while the GIV-SP offers impressive and unprecedented dispatch reliability greater than 99.5 percent," he added. "The Gulfstream 200 is the only super mid-size aircraft in operation today and flies nonstop from Tokyo to Singapore or Berlin to Delhi and the mid-size Gulfstream 100 is ideally suited for long and short distances, easily linking Singapore to Beijing."
"As business aviation continues to grow in Asia, the Gulfstream fleet will emerge as the aircraft capable of meeting the most challenging missions in and out of this important region," he continued.
"The airport access improvements for business jet aircraft have increased interest in our products and we are very optimistic about future growth opportunities in Asia," Walker said. "The Chinese have made a significant commitment to business aviation, as evidenced by the opening of the business aircraft center at Chek Lap Kok airport in Hong Kong."
"Broader airport and airway policies that embrace business aviation will improve business travel for this region," Walker said. "The technology advancements in Gulfstream aircraft, especially the quieter and lower emission engines, coupled with the failure of airlines meet the needs of frequent business travelers, provide persuasive reasons to grant additional access for business jet aircraft."
The Gulfstream V’s exceptional performance has far outpaced the competition and built a reputation for industry leading safety, reliability, performance and comfort. With more than 139 Gulfstream V’s and 450 GIV/GIV-SP’s in service, Gulfstream aircraft routinely fly business and government leaders non-stop from Europe, the Middle East and North America to destinations throughout Asia.
The Gulfstream V is the world's most technologically advanced intercontinental business jet aircraft. Capable of flying 6,500 nautical miles at speeds up to Mach .885 with eight passengers and a crew of four, the Gulfstream V cruises at altitudes up to 51,000 feet, routinely outperforming the nearest competition.
The soon-to-be-available Gulfstream V-SP will provide a range of 6,750 nautical miles, a 250-mile improvement over the current GV. The range improvement provides extra margin not only on ultra-long range flights, but also on shorter-range, higher-speed routes. The GV-SP will be capable of flying 5,000 nautical mile trips at a rapid .87 Mach – a 400-mile advantage -- and 6,000 nautical mile legs at .85 Mach – a 300-mile enhancement. Performance improvements are the result of greater efficiency of the Rolls-Royce BR-710 engines, airframe drag reduction and a reduction in the aircraft’s empty weight.
The Gulfstream V-SP will provide additional improvements in cabin and baggage volume, and takeoff performance and will introduce state-of-the-art technology incorporated in its exclusive PlaneView™ cockpit. The first customer delivery is scheduled in 2003.
