NEW GULFSTREAM G400™ AND G300™ BUSINESS JETS MEET ALL PROGRAM MILESTONES
Federal Aviation Administration Certified New Long-Range and Mid-Range, Large-Cabin Jets
SAVANNAH, Ga., Jan. 27, 2003 - Gulfstream Aerospace, a subsidiary of General Dynamics (NYSE: GD), has commenced the final phase of manufacturing of the first large-cabin, long-range Gulfstream G400 and has received Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Type Certification for the mid-range Gulfstream G300. Introduced in September 2002, both business jet aircraft continue to meet all FAA requirements and remain on schedule for customer deliveries by June.
Gulfstream's new seven-aircraft product line was introduced at the National Business Aircraft Association 2002 Annual Meeting and Convention.
"This comprehensive new product line allows Gulfstream to compete at all price and performance points in the mid- through ultra-long-range business jet market," said Bill Boisture, Gulfstream president.
"The G300 and G400 are already capturing the attention of our large-cabin customers," he added. "The designs are based on the Gulfstream IV (GIV), the world's best-selling large-cabin, long-range business jet, and so it is just a matter of time before they capture the enviable position of their predecessor."
While the G300 and G400 will inherit the reliability and performance of the GIV, they will make available an expanded range of standard equipment and options, improved warranties and, in the case of the G400, an industry-exclusive 5-year maintenance and training package.
Both aircraft, powered by twin Rolls-Royce engines, were developed to meet the different travel needs of business jet owners and passengers. The long-range G400 can fly up to 4,100 nautical miles, or nonstop from Chicago to Berlin, without refueling while the mid-range G300 can fly up to 3,600 nautical miles, or nonstop from New York to Paris.
The G400 and G300 flight decks feature the fully integrated Honeywell SPZ-8400 avionics system, which is compatible with navigational options, including the Honeywell 2020 Head Up Display (HUD) and the industry-exclusive, FAA-certified Gulfstream Enhanced Vision System™ (EVS). The EVS significantly enhances a pilot's situational awareness in fog and darkness and allows the aircraft to land safely in low-visibility conditions, thereby addressing many of the issues raised in the FAA's Safer Skies Initiative.
With the largest outfitting allowance of any business jet in its class, G400 customers also have the option to customize their aircraft's interior. The G300 offers three cabin layouts, seven interior packages and numerous stand-alone options to satisfy a customer's transportation needs.
The G400 and G300 industry-exclusive benefits include a 15-year structural warranty that, unlike the competition, covers both parts and labor. Component warranties are five years and also include parts and labor.
